Are you looking for some adventures that your whole family will enjoy? Topeka, Kansas, is full of fun ways to spend your day. Here are just a few must-visit attractions for families in the area.

1. Evel Knievel Museum

From the oldest of daredevils to the youngest, the Evel Knievel Museum is sure to provide entertainment for all ages. It’s full of authentic artifacts that belonged to the legendary daredevil himself, Evel Knievel. Some of these artifacts include Evel’s motorcycles, his genuine leathers and helmets, and his completely restored Mack truck, Big Red. The museum also features fun interactive exhibits like the virtual reality 4D Jump Experience, Broken Bones featuring Evel’s actual X-rays, and more.

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 62 and over, and $7 for children ages 8 to 16.

2. Kansas Children’s Discovery Center

The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center is an interactive kids’ museum that allows families to explore, create, discover, and learn together in a fun and exciting way. It’s full of indoor exhibits geared toward science, art, building, and more. It has a special place for babies and toddlers as well as a 4.5-acre Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.

The Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom has fun hands-on activities like musical instruments made from natural materials, gardens and paths, and a section where you can build and create using natural materials.

Entrance to the museum is $9 for adults and kids, $8 for seniors 65 and older, and free for infants 12 months and younger. During the school year, the museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. In the summer months, the museum opens at 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.

3. Ward Meade Park

Ward Meade Park is a 6-acre park that was once a family farm on the Oregon Trail. In the park, you’ll find an early 20th-century town, a Southern-style mansion, gardens, and historical log cabins. You can visit the old town’s Mulvane General Store Visitors Center & Gift Shop, Potwin Drug Store with an operating soda fountain, and more for free. Some of the town’s other structures offer tours costing $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for children ages 6 to 12.

The general store and drug store are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The park grounds are open from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. every day.

4. Lake Shawnee

Lake Shawnee is a popular Kansas destination that is home to festivals, ball tournaments, golfing, boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and more. Amenities include their Adventure Cove, sports complex, hiking trail, and the Ted Ensley Gardens.
